We Come To You

Covering Mayfield

SwimFitz covers Mayfield and the villages around it — Five Ashes, Rotherfield, Cross in Hand, Heathfield, Burwash and Burwash Weald — across TN20, and out across TN19 and TN21 to Burwash and Heathfield.

Pools here are mostly outdoors, set in gardens that run to several acres and frequently sitting alongside a tennis court and a paddock. A handful are indoors in converted barns. What they nearly all share is a season rather than a year.

Mayfield In Depth

What Teaching Here Is Actually Like

Mayfield runs along a ridge with the land falling away on both sides, and the houses around it are properly rural — acreage, stables, outbuildings, and a pool that went in because there was room for one. Burwash and Heathfield to the south are the same picture.

Your pool has a season, not a year

Most pools around Mayfield are outdoors and uncovered for part of the year. Realistically that is a late-May to mid-September window, and the swimmers who make progress are the ones who use it intensively rather than once a fortnight across it.

An intensive block beats a weekly lesson here

Because the season is short, we often run consecutive days over a school holiday rather than one lesson a week for a year. A child can go from nervous to swimming a width inside a fortnight when the lessons are close together and the water is warm.

The pool is rarely the only thing in the garden

Tennis courts, paddocks and stable blocks are common here, and households often want more than swimming taught at home. We can bring tennis and other at-home coaching to the same address under the same vetting.

Questions

Mayfield, Specifically

Five Ashes, Rotherfield, Cross in Hand, Heathfield, Burwash and Burwash Weald, across TN20 and out into TN19 and TN21.
Usually late May into September, and we would rather tell you that plainly than take a booking in April. An unheated Sussex pool in spring is genuinely too cold for a child to learn anything in, however keen they are.
In this area, often yes. With a short outdoor season, five consecutive mornings in August will usually move a swimmer further than a lesson a week from May to September. We are happy to do either.
Yes. A lot of properties here have a court as well as a pool, and our at-home coaching covers tennis, padel, gymnastics and personal training through the same vetted and insured network.
Unless your pool is indoors, or covered and heated, we pause and pick up in spring. We will not take a retainer for lessons that cannot productively happen, and we will hold your slot for the following season.
