Private vs Group

Why Private Makes
All The Difference.

Group swimming lessons have a place, but private one-to-one tuition at your home pool is in a different league. Your child gets 100% of the coach's attention, 100% of the time — no waiting on the side, no sharing instruction with seven other children.

Sessions follow the Swim England Learn to Swim framework so your child's progress maps to nationally recognised milestones. Every lesson builds on the last, and you receive detailed notes so you're always in the picture.

Curriculum

What Your Child
Will Master.

Foundation

Water Safety & Confidence

Entry and exit skills, safe submersion, treading water and understanding pool rules — the non-negotiable foundation before stroke work begins.

Stroke 1

Freestyle (Front Crawl)

Body position, arm technique, kick mechanics and bilateral breathing. The workhorse stroke taught progressively through drills and full swims.

Stroke 2

Backstroke

Rotational body position, alternating arm pull and consistent kick. Most children find backstroke builds confidence quickly as they can always breathe.

Stroke 3

Breaststroke

Synchronised arm and leg action, the glide phase and breathing timing. Often the trickiest stroke — private lessons make a measurable difference here.

Stroke 4

Butterfly

Dolphin kick, simultaneous arm pull and the undulation pattern. Introduced once the other three strokes are solid.

Tracking

Progress Notes

Written notes sent after every session. Covers what was practised, what improved and the focus for next time — so parents are never in the dark.

Common Questions

Children's Lessons
FAQs.

What age do you teach from?
We teach children from age 3. At this age children typically have the attention span and physical development needed to engage with structured swimming lessons. We also teach older children and teenagers — just get in touch to discuss.
My child is nervous or fearful around water — can you help?
Absolutely. Many of our most rewarding sessions are with children who have developed a fear of water — often from a bad experience in a public pool or group class. Private lessons in the familiar surroundings of your home pool remove almost every trigger. We work at your child's pace, never forcing anything.
Do you follow the Swim England framework?
Yes. Sessions are structured around the Swim England Learn to Swim pathway, which provides nationally recognised stages from water confidence through to all four strokes. This means your child's progress is benchmarked and easy to communicate to school or sports clubs.
How long is each session?
Standard sessions are 30 minutes for younger children (ages 3–5) and 45 minutes for ages 6 and above. Older children and teenagers can do 60-minute sessions. We'll recommend the right duration when you enquire.
How quickly will my child progress?
Most children show measurable improvement within 3 sessions. Progress towards a new Swim England level typically takes 6–10 weekly sessions depending on the child's age and starting ability. The intensive crash course can compress this significantly.
Do you need to come to our house every week?
We come to your pool for every session — that's the whole point of at-home lessons. Weekly is the most common schedule, but we can also do fortnightly or intensive block programmes. It's entirely flexible around your family's schedule.
