The Swim Leg Advantage

The Fastest Gains
Are In The Water.

For most triathletes, the swim leg is either the most feared or the most neglected. Yet it's the discipline where targeted coaching delivers the fastest relative improvement. A 10-minute swim split reduction is achievable in a few weeks of focused technique work — the equivalent of months of cycling or running gains.

Private coaching at your home pool means every session is about you: your stroke, your breathing pattern, your open water challenges and your race strategy. No lane-sharing, no waiting, no one-size-fits-all drills.

What We Cover

Coaching Designed
For Triathletes.

Technique

Freestyle Efficiency

High elbow catch, body rotation, kick mechanics and stroke rate. We identify and eliminate the inefficiencies costing you time and energy on every length.

Breathing

Bilateral & Race Breathing

Bilateral breathing, breathing rhythm under fatigue and transitioning from pool to open water breathing patterns. Panic breathing is costing you places — we fix it.

Open Water

Sighting & Navigation

Sighting technique without breaking your stroke rhythm, swimming in a straight line and maintaining pace through chop and wash. Simulated in the pool, applied in open water.

Race Day

Start Strategy & Drafting

Mass start positioning, beach or pontoon starts, drafting technique and how to exit the water in the best state for T1 and the bike leg.

Gear

Wetsuit Swimming

Wetsuit buoyancy changes your position in the water. We train specifically for wetsuit swimming so race day feels familiar, not foreign.

Conditioning

Endurance & Pace Work

Race-specific interval sets, threshold work and race-pace training. We build swim fitness that holds up at the end of a hard run or bike block.

Simple Process

How It Works.

01 — Enquire

Tell Us Your Race Goals

Share your race calendar, current swim times and what's holding you back. The more detail, the better we can tailor your coaching plan from day one.

02 — Analyse

Stroke Analysis

Session one begins with a video stroke analysis. We identify your biggest inefficiencies and rank them by impact — so we fix the right things first.

03 — Train

Structured Coaching Programme

Weekly or block sessions at your home pool, structured around your race calendar. Every session has a defined focus and outcome.

04 — Race

Race-Ready Confidence

You go to the start line having rehearsed your strategy, corrected your technique and built the swim fitness to execute — not just survive — the swim leg.

⚡ Crash Course

Race Ready

Common Questions

Triathlon Coaching
FAQs.

What distances do you coach for?
We coach triathletes preparing for all distances, from sprint and super sprint through to Olympic, 70.3 and full Ironman. The coaching approach adapts to your race distance — the technique fundamentals are the same, but the endurance work, pacing and race strategy differ significantly.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer to benefit from triathlon coaching?
No. We work with triathletes at every swim level, from those who are anxious about the swim leg and just want to survive it, through to competitive age-groupers aiming for podium swim splits. The coaching is entirely personalised to your current level and your race goals.
Can you train me for open water if my pool is indoor?
Yes. The vast majority of open water swim preparation — technique, sighting simulation, bilateral breathing, race starts and drafting positioning — can be coached effectively in a home pool. We simulate open water conditions through drills, and many clients combine pool coaching with one or two open water sessions as their race approaches.
How much can I realistically improve my swim split?
This varies by athlete, but improvements of 5–15% in swim split time within a 4–8 week coaching block are common for athletes who haven't had dedicated swim coaching before. Technique gains compound — fixing a high-drag body position, for example, can cut your time significantly without any additional fitness work.
How far in advance of my race should I start coaching?
Ideally 8–12 weeks out for a full coaching programme, or 4–6 weeks for the crash course. Starting too close to a race risks changing movement patterns just as your body needs to be in a settled, confident state. Get in touch as soon as you have your race date confirmed.
Do you do video stroke analysis?
Yes — video analysis is included in the first session of every coaching programme. We film underwater (where possible) and from the poolside, then review the footage together so you can see exactly what we're correcting and why. This alone has a significant impact on how quickly athletes improve.
