Why At Home

Running, One To One

Running is the one discipline we coach that needs nothing from your house at all. Sessions start at your front door and use the roads, parks and trails you already run, which is the point: a treadmill gait analysis tells you how you run on a treadmill, and that is not where your race is.

Will It Work Here

What you need at home

Nothing. Sessions run from your door, on the routes you already use
Trainers you actually run in, not new ones bought for the session
A treadmill is useful for filmed gait work but is in no way required
Somewhere to warm up if the weather is genuinely hostile

Your coach brings

Cones, a phone gimbal for gait filming, and a stopwatch. Everything else is the pavement.

Not sure whether your space works? Send a photo with your enquiry and we will tell you honestly before anything is booked.

In Practice

What Coaching Here Is Like

Gait analysis where you actually run

We film on the road or the park path rather than on a belt, because camber, surface and fatigue change a running action and a treadmill removes all three. Playback happens there and then, between efforts, not as a report a week later.

Most runners are not injured, they are impatient

The commonest thing we fix is not a biomechanical fault but a pacing habit: every easy run run too hard, so nothing is ever properly easy or properly fast. Fixing that is unglamorous and it is usually what unlocks a personal best.

Return to running after a break

A good share of this work is coming back - after injury, after illness, after a few years off. That needs a plan that starts slower than the runner wants, and someone present to enforce it. We work within whatever a physiotherapist has advised.

How It Works

Four Steps

01

Tell Us What You Need

Who the coaching is for, roughly what level, and what space you have. A photo helps more than a description.

02

We Match A Coach

Enhanced DBS, recognised qualifications, fully insured, and personally approved before they are offered to you.

03

Coach Arrives At Home

Everything for the session comes with them and leaves again. Nothing is stored at your property.

04

Ongoing Or One-Off

A standing weekly slot, a block over a school holiday, or a single session. All three are normal.

Questions

Running At Home

No, and we would rather not use one. Filming on the surface you actually race on shows a truer action. If you own a treadmill we will use it for specific drills, but it is never the main event.
From your door. The coach arrives at the house and the session uses your local roads, park or trails. For households with grounds, the grounds themselves are often perfect for interval work.
Yes - 5k through to marathon, and triathlon run legs. Tell us the date and the target at enquiry and the block is built backwards from it.
Around eleven, and for younger runners the focus is technique and enjoyment rather than mileage - children should not be training to a plan. Above that, any age and any ability: we are as happy with a first parkrun as with a sub-three marathon.
We run. Rain is a normal running condition and training only in good weather produces a runner who struggles on race day. Ice and genuine storms are different, and we move those sessions.
