Why At Home

Pilates & Barre, One To One

Pilates is the discipline where one-to-one makes the most difference and group classes make the least. Almost every movement depends on an alignment the teacher has to see, and in a class of fifteen nobody is watching your pelvis. At home the instructor watches nothing else.

Will It Work Here

What you need at home

Mat space of about two metres by one, with room to extend both arms
A floor you are happy to lie on - we bring the mat
A wall section free of furniture is useful for alignment work
A reformer if you own one; otherwise everything is taught on the mat

Your coach brings

Mat, small ball, resistance bands, blocks and a foam roller. Nothing needs to be bought in advance.

Not sure whether your space works? Send a photo with your enquiry and we will tell you honestly before anything is booked.

In Practice

What Coaching Here Is Like

Mat or reformer, and why it matters less than people think

A reformer is a wonderful tool and most households do not have one. Mat Pilates with good resistance equipment covers the overwhelming majority of what a beginner or a back-care client needs. Where a household has a reformer, or a residence has a studio, we use it.

The studio in your building usually works

A growing number of apartment buildings have a Pilates or fitness studio on the amenity floor. If yours does, that is often a better room than a bedroom floor, and the same approved-contractor documents that cover a residents' pool cover the studio.

Post-natal and back care, within guidance

A large share of this work is post-natal recovery or long-standing back trouble. We are instructors, not clinicians, so we work inside what a GP, physiotherapist or midwife has advised, and we say so plainly when something falls outside that.

How It Works

Four Steps

01

Tell Us What You Need

Who the coaching is for, roughly what level, and what space you have. A photo helps more than a description.

02

We Match A Coach

Enhanced DBS, recognised qualifications, fully insured, and personally approved before they are offered to you.

03

Coach Arrives At Home

Everything for the session comes with them and leaves again. Nothing is stored at your property.

04

Ongoing Or One-Off

A standing weekly slot, a block over a school holiday, or a single session. All three are normal.

Questions

Pilates & Barre At Home

No. Mat Pilates with bands, a ball and a roller covers almost everything a beginner or a back-care client needs. If you own a reformer we will use it; if your building has a studio, often better still.
About two metres by one. If you can lie down and extend both arms overhead without hitting furniture, you have enough room. A clear wall section helps with alignment work but is not essential.
Once your GP or midwife has signed off on returning to exercise, and we will ask. From there we start with breathing and deep core reconnection rather than anything strenuous, and build at whatever pace your body sets.
Related but not identical. Barre borrows ballet positions for strength and endurance work and is usually more cardiovascular; Pilates is slower and more precise. Most clients end up doing some of both, and the same instructor covers it.
Twice a week moves most people noticeably within a month. Once a week maintains and improves slowly. Less than that is enjoyable but will not change much, and we would rather say so than sell you a weekly slot that disappoints.
