Intensive Programmes

More Progress.
Less Time.

Four or five private sessions at your home pool, delivered over one to two weeks. Intensive blocks produce faster, more durable results than the same number of lessons spread across months.

Why Intensive Works

Skills Learned Close Together
Stick Longer.

Motor learning research is consistent on this point: physical skills acquired through closely-spaced repetition are retained more effectively than the same skills learned at weekly intervals. Each session builds directly on the previous one before the muscle memory has time to fade.

For swimming, this is particularly relevant. A beginner who attends five lessons in five days will typically make more measurable progress than one who attends five lessons over five months. The gap between weekly lessons is long enough for habits to slip and for anxiety to reset.

The private home pool format makes this practical. There are no booking windows to navigate, no waiting for a lane, and no rescheduling around public pool timetables. Sessions are arranged around your week.

Who Books a Crash Course

A Specific Goal
With a Deadline.

Most Common

Holiday Preparation

A family holiday with a pool in two weeks. A beach trip with young children who are not yet water-confident. A resort swimming pool that needs to feel manageable rather than frightening. The intensive format is built around this kind of deadline.

Race Season

Triathlon or Swim Event

A race confirmed, a training block underway, but the swim leg still a weak point. Four sessions of targeted technique and race strategy coaching in the final weeks before an event can make a material difference to both time and confidence.

Stuck Progress

Breaking Through a Plateau

A child who has been on the same Swim England level for six months. An adult who can swim lengths but has never corrected their stroke. An intensive block focuses entirely on the barrier and removes it within days, not months.

Common Questions

Crash Course
FAQs.

How far in advance do I need to book?
Two to three weeks is ideal, particularly during school holiday periods when demand is highest. We do take last-minute bookings when availability allows, so it is always worth enquiring even if your deadline is close.
Can the sessions be on consecutive days?
Yes, and for most ages this is the preferred format. Daily sessions produce the fastest results. For very young children and for non-swimmers with significant anxiety, every-other-day sessions across two weeks can be more effective — we will advise on this when you enquire.
Is a crash course suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. The adult crash course is specifically designed for non-swimmers. The children's and baby formats are also suitable for those with no prior experience. The intensive format is particularly effective for adult beginners, where the gap between weekly lessons often causes anxiety to reassert itself between sessions.
What pool temperature is needed?
A heated pool is required. Minimum 28°C is recommended for most ages; 30–32°C for babies. We will confirm specific requirements based on the age and type of crash course when you book.
Do you offer crash courses outside term time only?
No. Crash courses are available year-round. School holidays are the most popular period, particularly for children, but adult and baby crash courses run throughout the year and availability is generally better during term time.
